Environmental Program Management, Confidential Client, EPA Region IV
EMAGIN served as project team lead and program manager for major remediation needed at a 2,500-acre former defense contractor site purchased for redevelopment. This RCRA corrective action site required soil and groundwater remediation at former landfills and former industrial operations. Our personnel served as the primary point of contact for project consultants, regulatory agencies, and the local community. We enhanced the closure of this site with the following:
Cost-Saving Approaches: EMAGIN found cost-saving measures throughout the process. For example, we found interim measures and design-build approach for most remediation activities, thereby avoiding extra lengthy and costly feasibility studies.
Long-Term Exit Strategies: Schedules and budgets created for technical and regulatory closure.
Management and Monitoring: We oversaw all phases of the project from selecting consultants and contractors to negotiating contracts. We continued monitoring consultants, tracking progress, and establishing scopes of work and budgets.
Team Leader: We led regulatory agency interactions with U.S. EPA and the State regarding RCRA permit compliance, plus approval of work plans, reports, and project status updates.
Senior Review: All project deliverables received senior review.
Streamlined: Consolidated project budget and schedule tracking data.
The Face of the Public: Facilitated meetings with the public on project plans and activities.
Awards and Recognition: Received U.S. EPA national corrective action award and State award for use of innovative, results-based approaches at the site.
